The Credit Union is committed to the protection of personal information. The Privacy Act now applies to the private sector, which must observe the National Privacy Principles of the Privacy Act 1988.
National Privacy Principles
The National Privacy Principles regulate the way organisations collect, use, keep, secure and disclose personal information. It also gives individuals the right to know what information an organisation holds about them and a right to correct information if it's incorrect.
Why we need your information?
When you become a Member, we ask you for information so that we can confirm your identification, establish accounts, and start a relationship where we can help you manage your finances.
Use of information
We use your information to ensure security through identification verification. Your details also help us to understand your needs. We can therefore give you information on services and products that are relevant to you.
From time to time we may let you know about new services, products or promotions. If at any stage you don't want to hear from us about these things, you can contact us and make this request.
What information will the Credit Union disclose?
The information we collect from you is strictly confidential. We will not disclose your personal information to any third party, other than those who are contracted to us to keep the information confidential.
There may be some exceptional circumstances for disclosing your information, such as law enforcement purposes.
